PT/OT/AT for Injury Elimination Specialist

License/Certification: PT, OT, ATC or similar licensure/certification (Required)

Ability to Relocate: Brookfield, WI: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Work Location: In person at various job sites in Southeastern WI

OccuCare Injury Prevention is seeking a part-time (24 hours per week with potential for additional hours and future full-time employment) Injury Elimination Specialist (Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Athletic Trainer) with experience or interest in the rapidly growing field of on-site injury prevention, Post Offer Employment Testing, wellness, and ergonomics. This position may include some on-call opportunities throughout the week for additional work time. This dynamic and rewarding role involves seeing employees who have sustained work-related incidents within hours, aiming to prevent these incidents from escalating into injuries requiring further treatment.

Schedule

  • Day shift: Coverage for all 3 shifts for employees depending on need. Majority of time will be on first shift
  • Some on call possible other days of the week
  • This role may expand rapidly to other days of the week for a few hours

Purpose

The Injury Elimination Specialist will be responsible for providing early intervention, injury prevention, occupational/physical therapy, athletic training, wellness, Post Offer Employment Testing and ergonomic services on-site at local employers between Madison WI and Milwaukee, WI.

General Duties

  • Provide on-site early intervention and injury prevention services
  • Assess musculoskeletal incidents and collaborate with employees to minimize/eliminate these incidents
  • Operate within OSHA First Aid Guidelines to address early signs and symptoms of work incidents
  • Work with managers and employees on ergonomic improvements and risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide traditional therapy for non-work-related injuries on-site
  • Perform Post Offer Employment Testing on all new hires

Responsibilities

  • Respond to musculoskeletal incidents on-site within hours
  • Perform full orthopedic evaluations to determine the severity of incidents
  • Decide if employees can be treated within OSHA first aid guidelines, require direct access therapy, or need to see a physician
  • Identify root cause ergonomic issues and implement immediate controls
  • Provide therapy for non-work-related musculoskeletal injuries
  • Conduct proactive ergonomic analysis of workspaces to mitigate risks
  • Report weekly to employers on the status of all employees within the program
  • Perform on site Post Offer Employment Testing on new hires

Experience/Skills/Education

  • Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Athletic Training
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience, preferably in an outpatient or injury prevention setting
  • Licensed/certified to practice in the state where the plant is located
  • Willingness to learn ergonomic principles (training provided by OccuPro)
  • Proficiency with internet-based technology or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work interdependently and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel between job sites between Madison, WI and Milwaukee, WI – A company vehicle will be provided
  • Understanding of industrial rehab, return to work, and ergonomic concepts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at all organizational levels
  • Flexibility and attention to detail
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn OSHA first aid techniques (e.g., massage, kinesiotape application, soft splinting, edema control, heat/ice)

Essential Functions

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Exposure to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • Minimal noise level in the work environment
  • Travel by automobile or airplane may be required
